Unfair Competition Law

The German Act against Unfair Competition (UWG) sets the rules for advertising and market behaviour. Infringements are typically pursued by competitors and associations through warning letters and preliminary injunctions.

Our services

  • Review of advertising campaigns, packaging and websites
  • Environmental and sustainability claims (greenwashing rules applying from 27 September 2026)
  • Comparative advertising, misleading advertising and price indications
  • Defence against and issuing of warning letters (Abmahnungen)
  • Preliminary injunction proceedings and main actions

If you have received a warning letter, act quickly: deadlines are usually short, and declarations to cease and desist have long-term consequences. Contact us before signing anything.
