Explanation of German professional titles

• Rechtsanwalt / Rechtsanwältin: attorney at law admitted in Germany.
• Fachanwalt / Fachanwältin: certified specialist – a title awarded by the bar association after proof of special theoretical knowledge and practical experience in a field of law.
• Patentanwalt / Patentanwältin: German patent attorney admitted by the Patent Attorneys Chamber, with a technical or scientific university degree.
